J.D. Byrider-$16,000 for a $5,000 van
|
Feb 26, 2008 JD Byrider complaint |
I was going through the buying process at the Lima Ohio location. The staff doubled up on me, trying to get me to sign a contract, and leave a deposit on a car. I figured out by multiplying the number of payments, and adding the deposit, that I was going to be paying almost 150 percent of the purchase price of the vehicle. I left without paying a deposit. After I got home, I checked on KELLY BLUE BOOK, that all of the cars and vans that they quoted prices on, were priced 40-50 % higher than blue book. After the high interest, you would be paying just about 2 and 1/2 times blue book value. The Safari van was quoted to me @ 11,000. After the interest, the total would have been $16000. Kelly blue book on this vehicle with 100,000 miles, was only 5,500.
After you get done making all of the payments, your vehicle will have over 200,000 miles on it, and won't be worth anything. Yet, they want to discuss the great value you are getting on their 24 month, 24,000 mile warranty. Not one word is mentioned of getting a car of value. I'd turn Amish, and ride a bicycle before buying a vehicle from these clowns. They still call me twice a day, even on Sundays.

Let me guess Dan, You Must Work for the J.D. ByRider family? To make a comment like that, there's no other excuse! I, regret to say, have worked as a technician at the local Byrider service center. And everything that has been complained about is very true. I've seen it all. I'm proud to say that I've been ByRider free now for 9 years. And would greatly encourage car buyers to shop elsewhere for a vehicle, NO MATTER WHAT YOUR CREDIT LOOKS LIKE! That's no one's buisness but your own.
Thank You, And Have A Nice Day

You also have to take into account that your credit is probably not good enough to attain financing anywhere else outside of a "buy here pay here lot". Credit is earned not given to you. Why don't you cry about mortgage companies too while you are at it. They charged interest in the hundreds of thousands. Oh wait, your credit doesn't qualify to buy a home.
